This program is for veterans who served active duty and voluntarily contributed to an education account to establish eligibility. Monthly self-certification is required to receive benefit payments. Maximum entitlement is 36 months. However, an extension is allowed in the following situation:
Beneficiaries training at schools organized on a term basis [i.e., BYU] whose entitlement exhausts during the term will have their entitlement extended to pay through the end of the term in which the entitlement would otherwise exhaust.
This program is for veterans who have a service-connected disability. It provides a monthly stipend in addition to tuition, books, supplies, and tutorial assistance. This program is for the spouse and dependent children of veterans who are service-related deceased or 100-percent-disabled. The VA rating board determines who is eligible for these benefits. Benefits, unless exhausted, may be used until the dependent child has reached the age of 26. Maximum entitlement is 45 months with no extensions allowed.
This program is for members of the Selected Reserves, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard Reserves, the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. The Reserve components decide who is eligible for the program. Maximum entitlement is 36 months with no extensions allowed.
